5-pole skewed armature motor with brass flywheels; All-wheel drive and electrical pick-up; Cab interior; Detailed multi-piece fuel tanks; Wire grab irons; Photo-etched non-skid end walks; Flush mounted individual window 'glass'; McHenry knuckle spring coupler installed; and the locomotive is DCC upgradeable (Athearn included space for an aftermarket DCC board and speaker).
